NEW RELEASE: Connecting ft AKD - Deepstar The Abyss Dwella

20 Nov

This is a single with a different vibe to what people have come to expect from AKD & Deepstar, an electronic and sample based track that wanders into darker territory both vocally and instrumentally. While the pair are still crafting boombap together true to the sound of their debut album Universal Language, a project which featured artists such as Rapsody, Masta Ace, Tragedy Khadafi, A.G. of D.I.T.C., G.dot & Born, Sadat X, Nutso, Dälek, Rob Swift of The X-ecutioners and many more, Deepstar wanted to get more experimental and as such this is is first solo Hip Hop release 'Connecting' ft AKD.

The track is about a connection between two souls. One feels suicidal and the other wants the first to cling on because when she dies he dies, the connection dies. They must keep connecting.

This song is available free or pay what you want for the first 1000 downloads from our store.

Label Launch & First Release

(AKD & DEEPSTAR - No Mercy Ft A.G.)

29 Feb

After 3 years of planning and countless hours of hard work, we are proud to be opening Monad Records for business! This launch coincides with the label's first release, AKD & Deepstar's “No Mercy” featuring A.G. of the legendary Diggin' In The Crates crew. The track is a social commentary in which Arise King David and A.G. make it clear they grant no clemency to those who would oppress them, providing an explosive beginning to what promises to be an album to stimulate the minds of heads the world over. The collaborative project between West Australian producer Deepstar and UK emcee Arise King David entitled ‘Universal Language’ will feature many legends of the golden era and new comers alike, all coming together to celebrate and ponder over that all-reaching language that is Hip Hop.

With names such as Tragedy Khadafi, Sadat X (Brand Nubian), IconAclass (Dälek), Masta Ace, G.dot & Born, Rob Swift (X-ecutioners) and Phoenix Da Icefire (Triple Darkness) to name a few, and production that combines honoring the classic sound of Boom Bap with a fearlessness to experiment in a seamless flow of smooth sound. The album looks set to be something special for the heads.

With the help of production company Global Faction, who are dedicated to high quality projects with an ethos of contributing to the community through socially and politically conscious music, "No Mercy" will be debuting not only as a single available on Bandcamp but also in the form of a superbly shot music video by the talented Uncle Rae Rae.
